Shouldn’t It Be Getting Easier?

I used to think that the longer I walked with Jesus, the easier it would get.

After all, I’m praying more. Reading more. Trusting more. Shouldn’t the road smooth out a little?

But here’s what I’ve learned: the deeper you dig into His Word, the more He digs into you. And that’s not a bad thing. It’s holy thing.

Jesus isn’t interested in surface-level obedience or comfort-zone Christianity. He’s after transformation. He’s after your heart. And when you give Him full access, He starts pulling out the God-given potential that’s been buried under fear, doubt, and old patterns.

He starts whispering, “You were made for more.”

And suddenly, you’re saying yes to things that stretch you. You’re having conversations that require courage. You’re stepping into roles that feel bigger than you. Not because you’re trying to prove anything—but because He’s proving something in you.

This walk with Jesus isn’t about ease. It’s about purpose. It’s about surrendering the illusion of control and embracing the beauty of becoming who He made you to be.

And yes, it’s hard. But it’s also amazing. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

So if you’re wondering why it’s not getting easier, maybe that’s the point. Maybe it’s getting deeper. And maybe that’s exactly where He wants you.

One of Favorite Verses:

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” — James 1:2–3

God doesn’t waste the stretching. He uses it to refine, to reveal, and to ready us for the calling He’s placed on our lives. The discomfort isn’t punishment—it’s preparation.

And if you’re feeling the tension between where you are and where He’s calling you, you are exactly where He wants you to be. That’s often the space where growth happens. Where faith deepens. Where clarity is born.

Take It Deeper

  • What’s one area of your life where Jesus is stretching you right now?

  • Where have you seen growth that came through discomfort?

  • Who can you share this with so you don’t walk it alone?

Write it down. Pray it through. Speak it out loud. Words spoken out loud have so much power.  Let the hard parts remind you that He’s still working, still shaping, still calling you forward.

Final Thoughts

You’re not behind. You’re not broken. You’re becoming. And the road may not be easy—but it’s sacred. So keep walking. Keep digging. Keep saying yes. Because the deeper you go, the more you’ll discover who He made you to be.
