Stop Sprinkling Jesus: He Wants It All

We often treat faith like an accessory—something we add to our already full lives when we need comfort, clarity, or direction. But Jesus isn’t meant to be added in. He’s meant to be the foundation. He doesn’t want to be part of our life; He wants all of it. The moment we start thinking in terms of Jesus plus something—whether it’s control, hard work, or our own plans—we dilute the power of surrender. That “plus” becomes the thing we reach for when God feels silent, and that’s where we start drifting.
Torn Hearts and Tempting Voices
The Bible says we can’t love two masters. Why? Because our hearts will be torn. We’ll end up listening to whichever voice tells us what we want to hear. And let’s face it—Jesus doesn’t always tell us what we want. Sometimes He tells us to wait. Sometimes He tells us to let go. Sometimes He tells us nothing at all. And in that silence, we panic. We start asking everyone else. Friends, family, mentors, podcasts, social media. We gather opinions like they’re breadcrumbs leading us to clarity. But sometimes those breadcrumbs lead us in the opposite direction of where God wants us to go. Because people—no matter how well-meaning—aren’t God. They don’t know the full picture. They don’t see the big picture. They don’t know the pruning He’s doing in the quiet.
When Silence Is the Answer
I’ve learned (and continue to re-learn) that sometimes silence is the answer. Not because God is ignoring us, but because He’s inviting us to trust Him without the roadmap. He’s nudging us out of our comfort zone and into His zone. And His zone? It’s not always cozy. It’s not always clear. But it’s always purposeful.
We want clarity. He wants surrender. We want speed. He wants depth. We want control. He wants our heart.
And when we’re unsure, we default to what feels familiar. We ask others. We lean on our own understanding. We plan and strategize and try to make it all make sense. But faith doesn’t always make sense. It makes movement. It makes trust. It makes space for God to show up in ways we couldn’t have orchestrated.
Who’s Leading You?
So here’s the question: who’s leading you? Is it your inner planner? Your circle of friends? Your fear of missing out? Or is it Jesus? Do you ask God and really listen? Not just for the answer you want, but for the answer He gives—even if it’s uncomfortable, inconvenient, or unclear? Because sometimes the direction He’s pointing you in looks nothing like the path others would choose for you. And that’s okay. That’s faith. That’s obedience. That’s surrender.
Leaning Into Strength
Our weakness is the doorway to His strength. When we finally admit, “God, I just need You,” we stop performing and start depending. We stop sprinkling and start soaking. We stop adding Jesus to our life and start building our life on Him.
So if you’re in a season of silence, waiting, or wrestling—don’t rush it. Don’t fill it with noise. Don’t chase clarity from every corner. Sit with it. Pray through it. Ask God to lead, and then actually follow.
Not Jesus + your plan. Not Jesus + your comfort. Just Jesus.
That’s where the clarity comes. That’s where the peace lives. That’s where transformation begins.
